ORUG June 20 Meeting Notes

Thanks to all of those who attended our June 20th Meeting. Thanks to Chris Aceto, ORUG President and to Hany Iwamura, KPMB (rendered above)! Our apologies to those who could not make this meeting, we had to close registration due to our list being over the room capacity. We did not end up filling the room to capacity so we will expand the list for the next meeting so everyone who wants to can attend.
Looks like ORUG will have a good showing at the Revit Technology Conference in Vancouver this year. We will all try to capture as much industry leading information as possible to share with the group.

Hany Iwamura of KPMB demonstrated the main new features in Revit 2014. Adding unique parameters to a Group was a highlight and presented very clearly. A question was asked about whether this applies to Rooms in a Group. The answer is yes, you can have a parameter which is applied to a Room and different for each instance. An quick use for this might be the suite number that the Room is in.

Here is a Revit 2014 what's new video. It's made by Autodesk so it's not quite as good as Hany's presentation but it will help if you missed the meeting.

As displayed above, reality capture is now becoming mainstream. Hany presented a reality capture of a physical model, which was then brought into Recap and then Revit. Log into your Autodesk 360 account to try it yourself.

Our next meeting will be in the Fall of 2013. We have lots of ideas but we could always use more. Follow us on Twitter @ORUGca to keep up on the latest and to communicate directly with us. Thanks to our sponsors SolidCAD, Arvin Greene and RTCNA2013. And thanks again to everyone who participted. We hope to see you at the next meeting!
